Conceptual Crossroads
Rethinking Paradigms of Borders and Migration

Date: March 23, 2018

Theme

We are proud to invite both students and academics to attend Utrecht University’s fourth Humanities Graduate Conference “Conceptual Crossroads: Rethinking Paradigms of Borders and Migration”. In the West, current debates on migration become increasingly polarized, shaping discourses on various political, economic and social issues, which in turn affect migration policies. During this conference, we want to conceptualize migration and borders as dialectically intertwined to create a profound understanding of them – and hopefully new insights. Our selection of these two concepts as dialectically intertwined comes from an understanding of their centrality, interrelatedness, and their potential to create new insights on the matter.
